Founded with a vision to efficiently store and access all your data from one location, we designed a completely new SQL data warehouse built for the cloud for enterprises large and small.
The problem we saw
When we looked at conventional data warehouses, above all, we realized they are not designed to keep up with the exploding demand for data-driven insight. Because they are complex, costly, and inflexible systems, they have become obstacles rather than solutions to accessing and analyzing all your data.
The alternative, “Big Data” platforms such as Hadoop are merely toolkits, not complete solutions, that require massive resources to build and maintain.
How we solved it
In conclusion, we built a completely new SQL data warehouse guided by these principles:

On-premise solutions are too complex. They are too expensive and getting more so each day. As a result, we developed Snowflake as a service from the ground up for the cloud, capitalizing on the leading architecture and technology of Amazon Web Services. - Support modern data and applications
People want to focus on deriving insight from data – not configuring, tuning, and managing a data warehouse. Rather than just deliver traditional software hosted in the cloud, we deliver data warehousing as a service.
